Lub-D Siam Square - Hostel Review

Lub-D is an excellent transition hostel if you're coming from the airport with the aim to explore KhaoSan area later on, or a great place to stay if you want to be out of backpacker central but still with excellent access to the goodies.

Location 4/5

Directly next to the SkyWalk for the SkyTrain to get you absolutely anywhere in Bangkok! Perfect. Also in the heart of the shopping district (Siam Square) for all you glampackers, and a beautifully calm and quiet area to decompress after a long flight before throwing yourself into Bangkok life. Massage 5 mins walk away, Khao San road 45 mins walk or 10-15 mins taxi (around 80-100 Baht on the meter), and Wat Pho around the same. Jim Thompson house just behind the hostel and Erawan Shrine is just a simple walk away! 7Eleven exactly next door solves all your midnight muchies and forgotten possessions.

Dorms 4/5
Lovely little dorms - female only and mixed availables. Genuinely the best showers and bathroom areas I've seen in any hostel! Safes are available in the room but you'll need your own padlock (7Eleven to the rescue) - these aren't big enough for a 60L backpack, but they are more than spacious for rucksacs and valuables. Dorms are very safe with specific keycard access only. Great shelves and charging ports right next to each bed which is a dream for convenience and piece of mind!

Management 5/5
Lovely and helpful staff! Lots of leaflets on the front desk for discounts at local massage places and very helpful maps. Check out time is 12 noon and they have a locked luggage area in which you can leave your bag for the day you're switching over or moving on which is also a bonus. Breakfast is available in house!

Socialising 3/5
Nice and very casual bar area outside. Good living area by front reception with sofas, computers, STA desk. Not the most active in fostering chat between people unless you hang out in the reception area, otherwise you'll just meet people in your dorm. Good if you're up for ice breaking or if you want to konk out before you get into the "where are you from" rounds.

Facilities 5/5

Very chilled out bar
Theatre for gaming and watching TV or films
Washing and drying machines
Communal bench areas
Best hostel showers I've ever had!
Wifi
Security key cards for main door and bedroom
Towels and good bedding
STA desk in the living area!

Overall 21/25
Great place and I would thoroughly recommend for your first night in Bangkok!
